Sephora cruelty-free list: A-J

Hi Everyone,

How are you?

This post will be in two parts as I have other posts I want to write before the end of the month (and going through the whole damn website also takes ages).

Let’s just get into it, shall we!

Amazing Cosmetics

Official statement: AmazingCosmetics has always maintained a commitment to being cruelty-free, and has never tested any of its ingredients or finished products on animals.

BUT, and I know that it can be a big but for some. The company sold its products in China until 2015. However, the brand decided to discontinue its line in China and consider itself 100% cruelty-free now.

Vegan products: Check products in store as the website does not provide any information.

Amore Pacific

Official Statement: AMOREPACIFIC has voluntarily discontinued animal testing on cosmetic ingredients and finished goods since 2008. And as of May 1, 2013, we expanded the non-animal testing policy to our suppliers. AMOREPACIFIC brand is sold in Hong Kong, not in mainland China.

At Amorepacific, developing safe and healthy beauty products is our top priority. As critical as it is for our company to engage in product safety testing, we are committed to a ban on animal testing as part of our belief that product safety must not come at the expense of animal welfare. In 2008, we voluntarily banned the in-house testing of cosmetics materials and finished products on animals.

If you are interested to know more about the brand, check out their website, they have a whole section about sustainability.

Vegan products: Check products in store as the website does not provide any information.

Anastasia Beverly Hills

Official Statement: Nothing on the website but the company can be found on several cruelty-free websites and has its place on Peta’s cruelty free list.

Vegan products: Yes

Ardency Inn

Official Statement: Haven’t found any but Cruelty Free Kitty  has a place for the brand on its “101 Cruelty-Free And Vegan Makeup Brands”.

Vegan products:  I would recommend checking the ingredients for full confirmation.

Bare Minerals

Official Statement: Please feel at ease when using bareMinerals products as we do not test any products on animals. We also do not work with any manufacturers that do animal testing.

Vegan products: Yes some BUT I would stay away from brushes (made with Goat or Pony hair)

Official Statement: Does BECCA test on animals?
BECCA is and will remain a cruelty-free company. We do not test our products on animals and we will continue to hold true to this principle.

HOWEVER, the company, just like TOO Faced was bought by Estée Lauder. Does it make it less than 100% cruelty-free? You decide.

Vegan products: Yes. Please check out Logical Harmony for a list of some of their vegan products.

Besame Cosmetics

Official Statement: Absolutely not! Bésame Cosmetics does NOT test on animals at ANY level of production and uses only natural and responsible ingredients in all our products. We are proud to be cruelty-free!

Vegan products: Some. As per their FAQ:

Yes! All our powders, both loose and pressed, as well as our Cream Rouges, are Vegan. Our lipsticks and our mascaras contain beeswax for texture but the wax is properly sourced from very happy bees!

Bite Beauty

Official Statement: Nothing on the website but as per many cruelty-free websites, the brand is cruelty- free.

Vegan products: Lipsticks contain beeswax and carmine.

Black Up

Official Statement: Yes. The new European cosmetics regulation (Cosmetics Regulation 1223/2009) bans animal testing on cosmetic products. Hence, in accordance with European regulations and the brand’s values, no black|Up products have been tested on animals.

See Phyrra for more official statements.
